ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The Union College men's lacrosse team upended Bard 18-6 in Liberty League competition on Saturday afternoon.
The Dutchmen opened the game with a 4-0 run over the first two minutes and 17 seconds.
Thomas Stanton scored first off an assist by
Sean Hanley just 14 seconds into the game.
Paul Alberti,
Tom Lawton and
Daniel Kycia each followed it up with goals. Bard was able to find the back of the net once, before Union finished the quarter with a 3-0 run.
Sean Pensavalle, Alberti and
Nick Wright each tallied a goal to end the period.
Union led Bard 7-1 to start the second period. The Raptors scored early but Union racked in two additional goals.
Nolan Stauffer found the back of the net off an assist from Alberti while Stanton scored off a
Jordan Cooper assist. The Dutchmen led 9-2 going into halftime.
The Dutchmen started the third quarter with another 4-0 run. Hanley, Stauffer, Pensavalle and
Jack Sullivan each found the back of the net. The Raptors rallied for two goals late in the third.
Union led 13-4 at the start of the fourth quarter. Matt Giarrusso,
John Edmonds and
Charlie McGovern each scored to open the period. Bard tallied one with about six minutes left in the game, before Union's Cooper and Edmonds added additional goals. The Raptors scored a late goal with 1:33 remaining.
Lawton went 7-for-7 from the faceoff X, while
Alex Newhouse went 10-for-18 with six groundballs.
Sam Bebout got the victory with 2 saves over 19:57.
Jack Santilli made three saves in fifteen minutes while
Sam Broda made five saves in 25:03.
The Dutchmen return home to for Senior Day against Vassar on Saturday, April 30 at Noon at Frank Bailey Field.
