CORTLAND, NY—The Union College men's lacrosse team fell 10-7 to SUNY Cortland on Wednesday afternoon.
The Dutchmen started slow as the Red Dragons opened the game on a 4-0 run in the first. Union countered it with a 5-0 run in the second.
Paul Alberti started it off for the Garnet, followed by
Kyle Mason. Alberti's goal was assisted by
Cam Slatton while Mason's was from
Daniel Kycia.
Peter Richardson found the back of the net off a pass from
Thomas Stanton before
Nick Wright tied the game up at 4-4 with an assist from
Josh Freilich. Kycia gave the Dutchmen the 5-4 lead from a Stanton assist.
At the half, Union led 5-4. Cortland tallied four goals in the third, Union's
Nolan Stauffer posted a goal off a Slatton assist. At the end of the third, Union trailed 8-6.
Union netted a goal early in the fourth. Slatton assisted Richardson as he put one in the back of the net.
Stanton and
Sean Hanley each recorded four groundballs, followed by
Sam Bebout and
Michael Froman with three. Stanton also recorded three caused turnovers. Bebout finished with 10 saves in the loss.
The Dutchmen return home for to take on crosstown rival and Liberty League foe Rensselaer on Saturday, April 9 at 12 p.m., at Frank Bailey Field.
