SCHENECTADY, NY—The Union College men's lacrosse team fell 11-5 to RPI on Saturday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
The Engineers jumped out to an early 3-0 start, before Union's
Andrew Blau netted one to close the gap. RPI recorded a late goal at the end of the first.
Rensselaer recorded two goals at the beginning of the second before
Thomas Stanton found the back of the net. Union trailed 6-2 at the half.
Union's
Josh Freilich and Stanton each recorded goals in the third, while RPI posted four goals.
Cam Slatton netted a late goal for the Dutchmen with three minutes left in the
fourth.
The Dutchmen recorded more groundballs (31-27), they also tallied more faceoff wins (12-21). Stanton led the team with two goals, seven groundballs and one caused turnover.
Sam Bebout made two saves in 20:11, while
Cole Gendels tallied six saves over 39:27.
The Dutchmen head up the road to Saratoga Springs where they will take on Skidmore on April 13 at 7 p.m.
