SCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College men's soccer team improved to 5-1-0 on the season with a 4-0 shutout victory over SUNY-Canton Saturday evening.
The Dutchmen offense pressured the Kangaroos throughout the first half. They broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when
Andrew Fontaine earned a penalty kick calmly converting to give Union the lead heading into halftime.
As the game opened up,
Ethan Strauss took the ball from the midfield stripe carrying it into the attacking zone before slipping a pass over to
Connor Horan who put it past the keeper and put Union up 2-0 in the 61st. Fontaine would add another 10 minutes later while
Pedram Malakian closed out the scoring in the 83rd off an assist from Another Kushiana.
Kangaroo keeper, Austin Laramy, recorded four saves in the losing effort while
John Weitzman and
Jonathan Graziosi combined for a shutout with Weitzman earning his fifth victory of the season.
Union is back on the pitch Wednesday when it hosts Western Connecticut State at College Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
