ANNADALE-ON-HUDSON, NY - The Union College men's soccer team opened up Liberty League play with a 2-0 victory over Bard College.
The Dutchmen fired nine shots at the Raptors in the first half. The first seven did not find the frame but, the eighth proved to be different.
Salvador Lopez Jr. took a low cross from
Ethan Strauss and not only put it on frame but, in the back of the net to give Union a 1-0 lead in the 31st minute of the game.
Union would take the lead into the halftime break. It remained a one goal game well into the second half before the Dutchmen were awarded a penalty kick in the 81st minute. Captain
Andrew Fontaine stepped up and calmly finished the opportunity to give Union a 2-0 lead.

John Weitzman recorded his third and final save of the game to secure the shutout victory for the Dutch.
The Dutchmen are back on the pitch Tuesday when they host SUNY-New Paltz at College Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
