POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - The Union College women's volleyball team dropped a close match at the hand of RIT and fell to match host Vassar College.
The first match of the day against the Tigers was closely contested throughout as the two teams traded sets through the first four frames with Union winning the second (25-20) and the fourth (25-16). The match came down to a deciding fifth set with the RIT eking out the victory 15-10 over the Dutchwomen.
Ally VanDoren finished with a team high 16 kills in the match while
Amanda Price led the team in assists with 38 and aces with five.
The final match of the day pitted Union against host Vassar. The Dutchwomen stuck with the Brewers throughout the first set as Vassar squeaked out a 25-23 win. The Brewers would go on to sweep Union (25-23, 25-15, 25-11). Kat Moeller finished the weekend with a team high 87 digs pushing her career total to 1,971. Moeller would be the third player in program history to reach 2,000 career digs.
The Dutch are now 10-7, 1-3 on the season. They are back on the court next weekend in the Utica Tournament featuring matches with Stevens Institute of Technology, SUNY-Geneseo, Plattsburgh State and Lasell College.
