SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's soccer team moved to 2-0 on the season after grabbing a 1-0 victory over Sage Colleges in the Union College Classic.
Again, the Dutchmen struck early in the game. In the 11th minute, Sage tried to clear the ball out of their own zone but, the ball fell right to the feet of
Mike Kaye. He would take one touch and ripped one right past the keeper from just outside of the 18 yard box. Union remained on the front foot for the rest of the first half but, was unable to add to their lead.
Sage's attack picked up in the second half much like on Thursday against RPI. The Gators tallied seven of their nine shots on goal in the second period but, were unable to beat Dutchmen keeper
John Weitzman.
Weitzman recorded six saves in the game for his second clean of the season. He now has nine shutouts in his career.
Union is back in action on Tuesday as they play host to SUNY-Poly at 7 p.m.
