Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Records Third Shutout Win

SCHENECTADY, NY - The back line anchored the Union College men's soccer team in it's 3-0 victory over SUNY Poly Tuesday night.

The Dutchmen have yet to allow a goal in the 2016 season. The men at the back were rewarded with plenty chances to go forward against the Wildcats as both Ryan Roth and Mead Binhammer found twine in the first half. Roth's goal came in the 16th minute off of corner from Andrew Fontaine as Roth found just enough space to squeeze in the game's first goal. Binhammer's goal came 15 minutes later again off of the foot of Fontaine putting the Dutchmen up 2-0 entering halftime.

Union remained on the front foot in the second as they continued to pepper Poly goalkeeper Mingoro Fanny. Fanny was up to the test including a sequence where he stopped a Dutchmen penalty and then turned away two rebound opportunities.

Fanny was unable to turn away every Union chance as it racked up 13 shots on goal for the game. As the game opened up in 86th, Jason Miller and Connor Horan had a two-on-one with the last Wildcat defender. Horan popped it over the defender's head and Miller finished with his left foot to cap off the victory for the Dutchmen.

Union is back on the pitch this weekend as they travel to play in the MCLA Tournament against UMass Boston Saturday at 4:30 and Johnson State Sunday at noon.
