SCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College volleyball team split in the first day of the Union Invitational with Williams College and Susquehanna University. The Invitational features seven colleges including Union, Williams, Susquehanna, Ramapo College, Skidmore College, SUNY-Oneonta and Middleberry.
In their first match, the Dutchwomen downed Williams 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-20) spreading out the attack led by
Ally VanDoren with 11 kills.
Alyssa Bonesteel and
Morgan Clark each tallied seven kills each. Union was also leathal from the service stripe notching 11 aces in the three set win.
The nightcap for the Dutch came against Susquehanna as it took all three sets from Union 0-3 (18-25, 12-25, 23-25). In the final set of the match, Union dropped a tightly contested set as Susquehanna edged out the Dutchwomen by two points.
Union and the rest of the field will be back in action tomorrow with the first match starting at 9:00 AM. The Dutchwomen hit the court at 11:00 AM against Middleberry and again at 3:00 PM versus Ramapo.
