Union College women's hockey first year goalie
Kate Spooner would make a career-high 45 saves in the losing effort. This is the third time this season that Spooner has made 40 plus saves in a game the last which came against RPI on Jan. 20.
For most of the first two periods, the game was scoreless that was until the 19:27 mark of the second when Clarkson's Cayley Mercer followed up her initial shot and found the back of the net.
In the third period, the Golden Knights would score two more both coming on the powerplay as Ella Shelton notched one at the 8:58 mark and Marcer scored her second of the game at the 13:03 mark to open their lead up to 3-0.
This was the Do It for Daron Game which helps raise awareness for youth mental health. Funds raised from the game will stay in the local area to help youth mental health.
Union is back on the ice next weekend as it travels west to face ECAC foes Cornell and Colgate on Friday and Saturday.
