CHICOPEE, MA – After Elms College took an early lead in the second minute, the Union College field hockey team battled back for a 2-1 win against the Blazers on Tuesday night at Leary Field.
Â
The Blazers' Madison Messier scored her sixth goal of the season just 1:02 into the start of the contest to give her side the early advantage.
Â
However, that would be the only score of the contest that Union goalkeeper
Mary Beth Rudolf would concede in the game. Rudolf finished the game with three saves on four shots for her first collegiate win.
Â
The Dutchwomen scored their first of the game at the 15:00 minute mark to tie the game up before half time.
Charlotte Leyland scored her third of the season to provide the equalizing goal.
Â
After peppering the Elms College goalkeeper with shots, Union broke the stalemate in the 50th minute when
Katherine Talacci scored her third of the season off a rebound.
Â
Blazers' goalkeeper Jillian Lapponese made a total of 12 saves in the game.
Â
The Dutchwomen will return to the field this Friday, Oct. 13, to host William Smith at 5 p.m. (ET) at Frank Bailey Field.
