Dutchwomen struggle to get going in loss to Vermont

BURLINGTON, VT – The Dutchwomen fell 7-0 this evening to the University of Vermont's consistent offensive efforts.

The Catamounts offense came out strong early on, and would remain steady throughout the game. Union's defense was able to hold them off in the first period, despite several scoring opportunities. It wouldn't be until just under three minutes left to go in the first period, when UVM's Eve-Audrey Picard scored on a power play goal. Vermont would try to strike again but a Kate Spooner save right at the buzzer would send the Dutchwomen into the second period at a 1-0 deficit.

Vermont put the pedal to the floor in the second period, as they would score four times in a 14-minute span. Picard would have herself two of the four, along with Alyssa Gorecki and Ali O'Leary who would score one goal apiece.

Picard would score her fourth goal on the night, four minutes into the third period. Vermont's Kristina Shanahan would also score in the sixth minute.
