GENEVA, NY - The Union College women's soccer team got shut out by No. 5 William Smith this evening, 3-0. The Herons have now logged five consecutive shutouts.

The Dutchwomen fall to 5-4-2 overall and 0-3-1 in conference play. Three different Herons scored during the game, while the Dutchwomen were only able to get three shots off, on goal.

William Smith's Sarah Olick-Sutphen started the scoring for the Herons 8:35 into the contest. She collected a loose ball in the box and drilled her shot into the far right side of the goal for her first goal this season. Sophomore Elizabeth Moore notched her fourth goal this fall in the 32nd minute. She scored on a diving header after a corner kick sent into the box by junior Megan Barwick. Senior Evie Manning closed out the scoring in the 54th minute, capitalizing on a penalty kick.

Union's best scoring chance came in the 56th minute. Amanda Ashmen fired a shot on goal from just outside of the box. Heron's keeper, Veronia Romines had to dive to her right to just get her fingers on the ball and push it to the right of the post, preserving the shutout. The Dutchwomen were awarded a corner, but the ball was cleared out of the box by the William Smith defense.
