Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Ithaca defeats Union 3-1

ITHACA, NY – The Union College women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 road decision to Ithaca on Saturday afternoon.

After the loss, the Dutchwomen are now 5-5-2 on the season and 0-4-1 in Liberty League play. The Bombers improve to 5-8 and 2-4 in the Liberty League.

Ithaca out-shot Union, 13-6, in the contest with the shots on goal margin being 6-2 in the Bombers favor as well.

The Bombers' Shannon McMillan scored the opening goal in the 29th minute, and Union was able to keep its deficit to just one heading into half time. However, Ithaca scored two goals nearly three minutes apart in the second half to take a commanding 3-0 lead.

Undeterred, the Dutchwomen kept pressing and responded just 27 seconds after Ithaca scored its third goal. Amanda Ashmen scored her first collegiate goal to erase Union's goose egg in the 65th minute.

Unfortunately, Ashmen's goal would be the only tally Union would record in the contest.

The Dutchwomen return to College Park Field for a mid-week contest against Bard College on Wednesday, Oct. 18. The game against the Raptors is set to begin at 7 p.m.
