Dutchwomen shut out by No. 19 Rochester

ROCHESTER, NY – The Dutchwomen fell 6-0 to the 19th ranked University of Rochester field hockey team this afternoon.

Union drops to 6-7 overall and 1-4 in Liberty League play, while today puts the Yellowjackets at 11-3 on the year and 5-0 in the conference. This afternoon's victory was Rochester's fourth straight win.

Rochester's own Claire Dickerson led the day with seven total points. Dickerson had three goals and one assist.

Despite controlling most of the possession in the opening minutes of play, Union was unable to break through for any shot attempt. After four minutes of play, a heavy rain storm caused a 30-minute halt of play.

Coming off the break, Rochester was reenergized, as they would work to earn 20 penalty corners and make 28 shots.

Jennifer Lee started the scoring 15 minutes into play. Dickerson would strike with 15 minutes to go in the first half and would score a pair of goals less than 30 seconds apart. With a 3-0 lead and less than a minute to go in the first half, Rochester's Nancy Bansbach would net a rebound from six yards out to give the Yellowjackets the 4-0 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Rochester's offense slowed down. Olivia Denny scored a goal three minutes into the half and Dickerson would have her last of the day from 10 yards out on the left wing.

The Dutchwomen return to action on October 20 against Liberty League opponent RPI. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
