ITHACA, NY - The Union College volleyball team moves to 1-6 in Liberty League play after falling in three sets to number one seeded Ithaca College this afternoon (22-25, 26-25, 15-25).
The Dutchwomen struggled to remain consistent this afternoon, as they would hit .124 over the course of the match. As a team, Ithaca hit .308 with 45 kills. Union had 25 kills on the day with 13 attack errors.Â
The Bombers proved to be strong at the front line and equally as strong defensively as they would block Union's attack attempts five times and also had 51 digs.Â
Stephanie Libonati had a strong offensive effort, with five kills on 18 attempts (.278). Gillian Gore had the team high for Union with nine kills and Alaina Thaxter had three kills on eight attempts (.250). Brianne Hallock added a team high 10 digs.
Libonati also had two service aces against the Bombers. Today's aces puts Libonati at 45 for the season, the most of any Dutchwomen this year.
Union returns to action for their final home match next Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. against Sage. The Dutchwomen will honor their three seniors, Abby Salamone, Gillian O'Dowd and Hallock for senior day.
