SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – Midfielder
Sydney Keane scored her first goal of the season to propel Union College to a 2-0 win at Skidmore on Wednesday night.
Â
The Dutchwomen have now won three straight and eye a spot in the Liberty League playoffs, improving to 8-5-2 (3-4-1 LL) on the season with the win.
Â
After a scoreless first half, Union got on the board in the 48th minute behind a perfect set piece.
Paige Sherling took a corner that found the head of Keane, who redirected it into the far upper corner for the 1-0 lead.
Â
Union continued to pressure after gaining the lead and capitalized a second time in the 82nd minute. Sophomore
Lisa Aasa recorded her first collegiate point with an assist, as she played the ball into the box for Sherling, who then chipped it over the goalie for the insurance tally.

Despite the loss, Skidmore had chances during the contest, but were turned away by the Union back line and goalkeeper
Alison Sorkenn.
Â
Senior defender
Aly Leahy anchored the back line for the Dutchwomen and made a goal line stop to keep Skidmore off the scoring sheet during the second half. In net, Sorkenn turned in a career-high 12 saves in the contest for her third clean sheet of the season.
