Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dutchwomen earn first Liberty League point in draw with RPI

SCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College women's soccer teamĀ

The Dutchwomen attacked early in today's match up with RPI. Six minutes into the game, Union earned a corner. Julia Ferrelli took the corner and with an incredible stroke, and a lucky goalkeeper deflection attempt, the ball found its way in.Ā

With the early 1-0 lead Union continued to keep the pressure on the Engineers. However, RPI eventually responded with just under 15 minutes to go in the first half. Union keeper Allison Sorkenn made a great save that tipped off of the crossbar. From there, Engineer Emily Dunn headed the deflection, and with Sorkenn on the ground from the leaping save, the ball made its way to the back of the net.Ā

Regulation ended with each team stalled at one a piece. After two overtime periods, the final score would remain 1-1.Ā The Dutchwomen earned their first point in Liberty League play with the draw.Ā

RPI outshot Union 23 to eight. Goalkeeper Sorkenn made her season debut with eight saves and several huge saves late in the overtime periods.Ā

The Dutchwomen return to action next Friday Oct. 13 at William Smith College. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
