Dutchwomen set to face off against Merrimack

IT FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME
-The Dutchwomen will face off against the Merrimack Warriors for the first time in program history this weekend.
-Merrimack joined the ranks of Division I ice hockey in 2015-16 for their inaugural season. Prior to, there was only a men's hockey program at the college.
-Overall, the program has a record of 19-54-8, including this season's 3-6-2 start to the year.
 
LAST TIME OUT
-Union performed in historic fashion last weekend, sweeping ECAC opponents Brown and Yale in the conference's opening weekend.
-The wins were the first time in program history that Union women's ice hockey has started league play at 2-0 and swept back-to-back ECAC opponents.
-First years Megan Ryan and Hannah Schultz scored their first career goals as Dutchwomen over the weekend. Schultz had two goals in the game against Brown.
 
FOLLOW THE LEADER
-Junior Arianna Kosakowski is at the front of the pack with seven points coming off of four goals and three assists this season.
-Kosakowski has doubled her career totals in the opening games of this season, alone. With her first year and sophomore seasons combined she had six total points.
 
NO SUCH THING
-The "Sophomore Slump" is non-exist for Union's year two returners. As a whole, the sophomore class leads Union's offense.
-Sophomore Cheyenne Harris was second in the ECAC for total points over the weekend. She has one goal and three assists in league play.
-Haley Shugart returned to the ice after an eight-month absence due to injury. She scored her first goal of her sophomore campaign in her first game back against Brown. She also had an assist during the weekend.
-Katelynn Russ went back-to-back this weekend with two goals against Brown.
-Fellow classmate, Rachel de Perio also has two assists this season.
 
COO-COO FOR COCO
-First-year Coco Francis leads Union's netminder group with a .938 save percentage during conference play this season.
-Francis made her Messa Rink debut and earned the two wins this weekend, making her the first Union goalie to win her first ECAC start.
-She earned ECAC's Rookie of the Week for her performances against Brown and Yale, during which she had 61 saves.
-Francis is currently in third place among ECAC goalies for save percentage, and second place for total saves, in league play. She is ranked first in the country, among freshmen goalies, for her .947 save percentage.
