Buzzer beater dooms Dutchmen

SCHENECTDAY, NY – One last shot was what Saturday night's contest between Union and RIT came down to, and unfortunately for the Dutchmen, Union ended losing to the Tigers, 65-62, as Troy Pierre-Louis hit a half-court shot as time expired.

Union is now 3-3 on the season with a 1-1 mark in Liberty Play, while RIT improves to 4-2 (2-0 LL).

Despite the loss, three Dutchmen hit double digits in scoring, led by Greg King's double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Kevin Weckworth was second on the team with 14 points and Brendan Laing had 10 points.

In the first half Union shot 41-percent and led the Tigers 38-31 at halftime. However, in the second half RIT came out and controlled the game for the comeback win.

The biggest factor in the loss for Union was points off turnovers. Even though both teams had 13 turnovers a piece, the Tigers scored 13 points to Union's five off turnovers.

Union returns to the Viniar Athletic Center for one last time in the 2017 calendar year, hosting MCLA on Monday, Dec. 11.
