SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College men's basketball team snapped a two-game skid, picking up a 67-62 win against Hobart to open Liberty League play on Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center.

The Dutchmen are now 3-2 (1-0 LL) after the win, while the Statesmen drop to 2-2 (0-1 LL).

Kevin Weckworth had his fifth-straight game as Union's scoring leader, recording 21 points in the contest, 12 of which came from the free throw line. Overall, the Dutchmen scored 27 of their 67 points from the charity stripe, as there were a total of 59 fouls called in the game, 31 against Hobart and 28 against Union.

In addition to Weckworth, two other Dutchmen were in the double digits for scoring,
Greg King recorded 16 points while
Garrett Johnson had 10.
Matt Liquori was the only Union player to be in double digits for rebounds with 12.

Union dominated the first half, leading Hobart by as much as 13 before the Statesmen could cut their deficit to 11 before entering halftime. In the second half, Hobart came out fired up and out-scored Union 37-31, but the Statesmen got into foul trouble early, sending Union to the free-throw line 26 times in the half.

In the end, Union never conceded the lead and weathered the second-half push to earn the Liberty League win.

Union continues league play tomorrow, hosting RIT back at the Viniar Athletic Center at 4 p.m. (ET).
