SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women's hockey team fell to No. 8 St. Lawrence by a score of 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Messa Rink.

The Dutchwomen fall to 4-12-3 (3-5-0 ECACH), while the Saints improve to 9-6-3 (6-3-1 ECACH). St. Lawrence out-shot Union by a 47-9 margin, including an 18-1 advantage in the third period alone.

It didn't take long for the Saints to get on the board, as Justine Reyes scored the game's first goal 1:34 into the first period. It would be the only goal of the period, however, as Union responded at the one-minute mark of the second period to tied the game up.

Sophomore
Haley Shugart intercepted the puck in the neutral zone and skated into the Saints' end before rifling the puck over the nearside shoulder of St. Lawrence goaltender Grace Harrison. The goal was the sixth of the season for Shugart.

Unfortunately, that would be the only scoring of the game for Union.

Reyes scored her second of the game at the 10:14 mark of the second period to put St. Lawrence back up before the second intermission.

In the third period, the Saints' weren't satisfied with the one-goal lead and scored three more goals on 18 shots for the 5-1 final.

Freshman netminder
Coco Francis made 30 saves in the contest and was relieved by sophomore Natalie Spooner in the third period. Spooner ended the contest with 12 saves and one goal against.
