Softball downs Allegheny, loses to Wesleyan

CLERMONT, FL -- Dana Dolinko pitched a complete game victory to lead the Union College softball team to a 4-2 victory over Allegheny College in the first game of a pair of contests Sunday. In the second game, Union lost in five innings to Wesleyan University, 9-0, and is now 2-2 on the young season.

In the opener, Dolinko pitched a three hitter. She allowed just one unearned run and did not walk a batter for her first win of the young season. The Dutchwomen had six different players with one hit each, and Kayla Fisher drove in two runs with a ground out in the second and a triple in the sixth. Kala Mahen took the loss for the Gators, now 0-3. She gave up two earned runs and six hits while walking one and striking out four. Three Allegheny players had one single each.

In the nightcap, the Dutchwomen were held to just one hit, a single by Carli Voellm. Julie McDonald led the Cardinals with the five inning shutout and struck out four, while Olivia Gorman had three hits and Jamie Hom had three RBIs for Wesleyan. 

Union continues the Florida spring break week with games Monday vs. Oberlin at 9:00 AM and Lawrence at 11:30 AM.
