CLERMONT, FL -- The Union College softball team continued the Florida spring break trip with games against Oberlin and Lawrence Monday. Union lost the opener 15-10 to Oberlin and fell 11-5 to Lawrence in the nightcap.
The first game against the Yeowomen featured 25 runs and 28 hits. The Dutchwomen had 13 hits led by
Laura Aptowitz, who had three hits.
Kara Brown,
Courtney Casey,
Kim Puzo and
Carli Voellm had two hits each for the Dutchwomen. Puzo also drove in two runs for Union.
Oberlin was led by Dana Rae Goldstein, who had three hits and four RBIs. Five players had two hits each, Alexis Dill, Emma Downing, Tori Poplaski, Leandre Glendenning and Lexi Mitchell had two hits each for Oberlin.
In the nightcap against the Vikings, Lawrence scored four runs in the second and three in the third. Union, with 14 hits, was paced by the big bats of Puzo and Casey. Puzo had three RBIs and three hits and Casey also had three hits and drove in two runs. Brown and Voellm had two his each in the game.
Lawrence had four players with three hits each in the 16 hit attack, Amanda Karnatz, Lexi Angemi, Samantha Belletini and Madeline MacLean. MacLean had four RBIs and Angemi and Belletini drove in two runs each.
The Dutchwomen are idle Tuesday and return to action Wednesday with games vs. Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 9 AM and Elmhurst at 11:30 AM.
