CLERMONT, FL -- Nikki Ditizio had three hits and
Laura Aptowitz drove in three runs in Union College's 12-6 loss to Wisconsin-Stevens Point Wednesday morning. In the second game of the day, Elmhurst pitcher Stefanie Sanidas pitched five shutout innings of two hit ball to lead the Blue Jays over the Dutchwomen, 7-0.
In the opener, the Pointers (7-10) had 13 hits and scored eight runs in the first three innings before Union came back, scoring four in the sixth. Katie Uhlenbrauck had three hits and four RBIs and Jen Jacobson also drove in four runs. Paige Allen had three hits and two RBIs. Starting pitcher Amelia Heup won for the third time this season, giving up nine hits and six earned runs but striking out six in six innings.
Union was led by
Nikki Ditizio, who collected three hits and scored two runs.
Kara Brown had two RBIs and
Laura Aptowitz continued her torrid spring with two hits and three RBIs.
The Blue Jays (2-5) allowed singles by
Kara Brown and
Courtney Casey. Sanidas walked two batters and struck out eight for her second win, while Stefania Passarelli pitched the final two frames. Bri Getzloff led Elmhurst with three of the team's 10 hits, and Erin Steik had two RBIs.
The Dutchwomen (2-6) close out their break week in Florida with Thursday games vs. Calvin (9:00 AM) and Colby (11:30 AM). The home opener at Alexander Field is scheduled for Wednesday, March 29 vs. Utica at 3:30 PM.
