Women's Lacrosse Falls to Nationally Ranked Middlebury

SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College women's lacrosse team lost to No. 4 Middlebury College by a final score of 18-10 Tuesday night at Frank Bailey Field in Schenectady, NY.

Hannah Rosenberger led the Dutchwomen with five goals in the game while also tallying an assist in the game. Natalie Sullivan also recorded a hat trick for Union while adding an assist. Jen Hughes made four saves in the game while Ellen Taney picked up one save in relief.

For Middlebury, Hollis Perticone led the way with six goals on six shots in the win. Emma McDonagh also notched a hat trick while also adding an assist for the Panthers Tuesday night. Starting goalie Kate Furber finshed the game with six saves on 14 shots while Julia Keith closed the game in net for Middlebury recording one save.

Middlebury had a slight shot advantage at 28-25 while also having 22 ground balls in the game. The Panthers also claimed the draw control advantage beating out the Dutchwomen 16-14 in that category. Middlebury lead for the entire game netting the first two goals of the game before Union got on the scoreboard. Kellie Cronin scored right before the first half horn to cut the Dutchwomen deficit to 9-5. Middlebury would stretch its lead out to as much as nine goals in the second half before Union netted the final goal of the game at the 1:18 mark.

Union will be back on the field on Friday when the Dutchwomen travel north to play Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY. The game is scheduled for a 4:00 p.m. start time.
