PITTSFORD, NY - The Union College men's soccer team defeated St. John Fisher College on the road this evening 3-1.
Nearly two-thirds of the way through tonight's matchup, the game remained scoreless. With nearly 64 minutes down in regulation,
Salvador Lopez Jr. got the Dutchmen started when he beat around defenders and netted the ball in the left corner of the net. This goal was Lopez Jr.'s fourth of the season.
Justin Ferron of St. John Fisher settled the score with about 11 minutes to go in regulation on a penalty kick. It was his third goal of the season.
With just eight minutes left in the match, Union divvied up two goals between
Matthew Gomes and
Connor Horan. Gomes scored in the 82 minute when his shot deflected off a Fisher defender and found its way in. Horan scored again with less than three minutes to go to solidfy the victory for Union.Â
The Dutchmen advanced to 7-1-1 with tonights victory and 0-1-1 in Liberty League play.Â
Union returns to action this Saturday at 2 p.m. at College Park Field against Vassar College.Â
