UTICA, NY - The Union College volleyball team defeated SUNY Poly this evening in three sets (25-15, 25-13, 25-22).
The Dutchwomen came out strong in the midweek matchup against the Wildcats outhitting the opponent 38 kills to 24. The Dutch also aced SUNY Poly eight times.
Stephanie Libonati led the service success for Union with four aces of her own.Â
After taking the first two sets on the night, Union got off to a slow start to take the sweep. During the third set the Dutch found themselves at a seven-point deficit. However, late in the set were able to pull within four points, down 16-20 to the Wildcats. Eventually, the Dutchwomen would endure the deficits and came out with the third set win for the match victory.
Sage Shimamoto led the offense for the Dutch dishing 28 assists on the match.
Gillian Gore had a match high 16 kills and
Kaylee Velasquez had her season high of eight kills.Â

Brianne Hallock now finds herself at exactly 300 digs on the season.Â
The Dutchwomen, now 7-10, 0-2 in Liberty League play, return to action this Friday at Ramapo College at 6 p.m.
