SCHENECTADY, NY -- Three different goal scorers in the second half for #10 Skidmore College produced a 3-0 win over host Union College in a Liberty League game at Frank Bailey Field Saturday. The Thoroughbreds improved to 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the league, while the Dutchwomen fell to 3-4 for the season and 1-1 in league play.
Skidmore outshot Union, 29-1 and had all 20 penalty corners in the game. Union goalkeeper
Heather Poisson made 17 saves while Zoe McGuire stopped one for Skidmore. Gabby Hyman, Miranda Davenport and Marissa Folts each scored, and Hyman had a game high four shots on net while Hyman and Foltz each had five shots.
The teams battled to a scoreless first half, although the Thoroughbreds had 13 shots and Poisson had nine stops. Folts opened the scoring at 52:57 as she got a pass from Meaghan Lynch during a corner and shot it in through traffic in the middle. Hyman's seventh of the season made it 2-0 at 54:45. Off a corner, Mary Beth Zahnleuter fed Hyman for the score. At 58:33, Davenport shot from the left side and her drive was delfected off a defender into the back of the cage.
Union opened a three game homestand with this contest. Next up is a non-league game Tuesday night vs. Hartwick at 6 p.m.
