POTSDAM, NY - Despite
Jenni Barra posting a team-high 12 points, the Clarkson Golden Knights stormed past the Dutchwomen to a 76-39 victory, this evening.
Within the first five minutes of play-action, Clarkson jumped the gun and took an early seven-point lead over the Dutch. Union would pull as close as a three-point deficit in the first quarter, when Barra made a layup in the paint, got fouled and drained the and one basket. Clarkson went on to score five unanswered points and end the first quarter leading 20-12.
By the end of the first half, the Golden Knights had gained a 10-point lead over the Dutch.
Clarkson's largest lead of the night would be its ultimate 39-point lead. Union never led against the Golden Knights and allowed them to score 30 points off of 23 turnovers.
Barra shot four of seven from behind the arc and
Corina Lindsay also made two three-point baskets.
The Dutchwomen shot 30.8 percent overall and 56.3 from the charity stripe.
With a quick turnaround, Union returns to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. to take on the St. Lawrence Saints in Canton, NY.
