Conley, Union dominate Bard

ANNANDALE-ON-THE-HUDSON, NY - Thanks to a 26-point performance from Nicole Conley and consistent shooting from the Dutchwomen, Union defeated Bard College 83-31, this evening.

Lily Abarbanel got things started right away tonight as she drained a three-pointer just 30 seconds into the game, nearly foreshadowing the game to come. With about five minutes to go in the first quarter, the Dutchwomen were still tied with the Raptors, at eight points apiece. However, at the 4:52 mark, Joana Santos banked in a layup to give Union the 10 to eight lead; a lead that the team would hold onto for the remainder of the game. The Dutchwomen would prove to be strongest during the first quarter, putting up 25 points in the first ten minutes, but kept its foot on the gas for the remaining 30 minutes of play.

Hailey McCall knocked the ball in from behind the arc as the buzzer went off, at the end of the first half, solidifying Union's then 47-15 lead. The team shot 59 percent in the first half, alone, making 19 baskets on 32 attempts.

With tonight's lights out victory, the Dutchwomen move to 5-8 on the year and 2-5 in Liberty League play. The Dutchwomen will return home this weekend, for the first home games of 2018, to face Vassar College and RPI. Tip off on Friday night is slated for a 6 p.m. start.
