Field Hockey Bests RPI 4-3 in Overtime

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union College sophomore midfielder Cici Lyne netted the game-winning in overtime to lead the Dutchwomen to a 4-3 victory over Liberty League rival RPI, Friday evening from Frank Bailey Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior midfielder Sarah Wilkinson put Union in front, 1-0, at 17:03 in the opening half. After the Engineers tied the score five minutes later, sophomore midfielder Laura Wind gave the Dutchwomen a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

Union gained a two-goal cushion in the 47th minute when junior midfielder Charlotte Leyland finished off a pass from Wilkinson. RPI responded with two unanswered goals, including the game-tying tally with less than two minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game at 3-3 and force overtime.

Lyne secured Union's first Liberty League victory of the season with a tap in into an open goal with less than three minutes remaining in the overtime period.
