Yale tops Dutchmen in New Haven

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Union College men's hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Yale on Saturday night at Ingalls Arena.

Suffering its first shutout since Oct. 7, 2017, Union drops to 8-4-3 (3-4-1 ECACH) on the season while Yale moves into first place in the conference with a record of 7-2-2 (6-2-1 ECACH).

The Bulldogs ended up out-shooting the Dutchmen, 26-38, in the contest, as Yale goaltender Sam Tucker recorded his first career shutout.

Yale's leading scorer Joe Snively had a hand in all three of the Bulldogs' goals, scoring the first two and assisting on the third. Snively scored the game's first goal in the first period, putting the Bulldogs up with just two seconds remaining in the first period. Snively then scored shorthanded midway through the second period to double Yale's lead over Union.

Later in the third period, Yale capitalized on its fourth and final power play of the game, as Jack St. Ivany netted his second goal of the season to put Yale up 3-0.

The Dutchmen will finish off the 2018 calendar year with a pair of nonconference games against Canisius on Dec. 28-29 at Messa Rink.
