Dartmouth forces Dutchwomen to a tie

HANOVER, NH - Despite a late lead, the Big Green forced Union to an overtime match up that would eventually settle to a 2-2 tie.

The Dutchwomen saw themselves in some trouble tonight, as they suffered a 5-on-3 disadvantage for nearly 30 seconds due to back-to-back penalties. After surviving the threat, Union's power line of Cheyenne Harris, Rachel de Perio and Katelynn Russ would take over to give Union the 1-0 lead. At the 7:21 mark, Harris notched the puck in from de Perio and Russ assists.

However, Dartmouth responded back quickly as they would equalize the score at one apiece at 13:12.

Three minutes into the third period, Hannah Schultz would score on a power play to once again give Union the lead. Tonight was Schultz's fourth goal of the season, all of which have been on power plays. With the four goals, she has now broken the program single-season record for most goals, and power play goals, scored by a first year defenseman.

Regardless of Schultz' historic goal, Dartmouth refused to fall easily to the Dutch. Less than two minutes later, the Big Green's Hailey Noronha settled the score to once again tie up the game, this time at 2-2.

After regulation, the two teams faced off into a five-minute overtime period, however, the scoring would end there. Both the Dutchwomen and the Big Green would have to settle for just a point each in ECAC play.

Union returns to action next weekend for the final two home games of the season and will honor seniors Caitlyn McLaren, Brandy Streeter and Katie Laughlin prior to Saturday's game.
