ROCHESTER, NY - With a dozen turnovers and RIT's ability to capitalize, the Dutchwomen fell to the Tigers 44-76 this evening.
RIT gained an early 9-0 lead over Union this evening, and would run away with the win from there, as the Dutch were never able to regain the lead back from the Tigers.
Trailing 10-20 with 23 seconds counting down in the first, senior
Jenni Barra drained a three from behind the arc to pull Union within its closest margin all game, 13-20.
The Dutchwomen opened up the second quarter banking in a
Joana Santos layup to pull within five. However, RIT kept its foot on the gas and managed to take off with a 49-23 lead to end the first half.
Union committed 12 turnovers in tonight's matchup, and the Tigers capitalized on the mistakes, raking in 11 points off turnovers and 16 second-chance points.
The Dutchwomen took advantage of opportunity tonight, as they would shoot 6-7 from the charity strip for 85.7 percent.
Barra and
Nicole Conley lead the team in scoring, each earning 11 points. Conley also snagged nine rebounds. Sophomore
Elly Vaughan dished four assists and added a block and a steal to tonight's score card.
The Dutchwomen will return to action tomorrow to take on the William Smith Herons in Geneva, NY to conclude the 2017-18 season.
