Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Dutchmen ousted by Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Dutchmen were handed their first loss of the 2018 season this afternoon, at the hands of the Springfield College Pride in a 6-2 defeat.

The Union College men's lacrosse team has not been held to two goals or less during a contest since March 2, 2013 against SUNY Cortland.

Throughout the first half, the Pride and the Dutch were on an even playing field, going goal-for-goal in the first 30 minutes of play. Senior Jordan Cooper started the offense for Union today, scoring his first goal of the season in the 10th minute of play. Springfield would later take a 2-1 lead, but with two minutes left in the first half, Kerry Lyne netted the equalizer sending the Dutchmen into halftime all tied up at two apiece with the Pride.

Springfield went on to score four unanswered goals in the second half and run away with the 6-2 victory. The Pride advance to 2-2 on the season and the Dutchmen move to 3-1.

Union returns to action this Tuesday for a midweek matchup against Mount St. Mary College at Frank Bailey Field. Game time is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
