SCHENECTADY, NY - Running on all cylinders, the Union College Dutchmen shut down Mount Saint Mary College, 20-3 this evening.
Union's offense got off to a stellar start, scoring six unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes of play. The Knights were able to get off just three shots in the first quarter, thanks to high pressure coming from the Dutchmen's defense.
The Dutchmen created as large as a nine-point deficit in the first half.
Alex Newhouse capitalized on the large lead, as he won the faceoff and stormed the Knights' defense to score his first goal of the season and Union's ninth of the day. Mount Saint Mary's Danny Kugler would score at the 8:26 mark to give the Knights an offensive spark, however the half ended with the Knights still trailing by eight.Â
Union continued to be electric and seemingly unstoppable, as it went on to score eight more goals before eliciting any Mount Saint Mary offensive response.Â
Finishing the day out shooting the Knights 52-25, the Union College Dutchmen cruised to a 20-3 win and advanced to 4-1 on the season.
Union returns to action Saturday, March 21 to take on Montclair State.Â
