CLERMONT, FL - The Union College Dutchwomen (0-1) could not slow down the Maryville offense this morning, falling 12-3 in five innings.
The Scots(17-7) jumped on Union early, grabbing hold of a commanding 10-0 lead by the end of the first inning. First year
Makayla Koehler made her collegiate debut in 4.2 innings of relief action and allowed just three runs through the remainder of the game.Â
Maryville shut down the Dutchwomen through four complete innings, however, Union spurred a potential comeback late in the fifth. Thanks to several Scots' fielding errors and a clutch single through the right side from
Kara Brown, Union tacked on three runs. However, with two outs and a Union baserunner called out on interference, the Dutchwomen's rally fell short and the game concluded due to the mercy rule.
