ROCHESTER, NY – A late comeback bid fell short, as the Union College women's lacrosse team dropped a 17-12 decision to RIT on Friday evening.
Â
Union falls to 0-2 (0-1 LL) on the season, while RIT improves to 3-3 (1-0 LL) as both teams began Liberty League play.
Â
The Dutchwomen got on the board first, with a goal from
Ramsey Walsh on a free-position shot in the first minute and
Kellie Cronin added a second goal to give Union a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes. However, RIT would go on to take an 11-6 lead into half time.
Â
Coming out of the break, Union fought back and narrowed the score to 12-10. Unfortunately, the Tigers added five-straight goals to push the lead out of reach.
Â
Not conceding, the Dutchwomen added two goals in the final 30 seconds of play, but it was too little too late as the Tigers held on for the 17-12 win.
Â
Hannah Rosenberger led the Dutchwomen with three goals in the contest, while
Cailin Pandolfi, Cronin and Walsh each added two apiece.
Â
Union takes on Liberty League opponent William Smith tomorrow at 3 p.m. (ET).
