Dolinko goes the distance to earn split

CLERMONT, Fla. - Despite an earlier 10-1 loss, the Union College Dutchwomen bounced back to defeat Colby College 6-0 this afternoon, thanks to a complete shutout showing from junior Dana Dolinko.

Game One
Wellesley jumped on an early 3-0 lead over Union, and would keep the pressure on from there as the Blue boasted 15 hits against the Dutchwomen. Courtney Casey provided an RBI single to score Stuart Buxton in the bottom of the third, however that would be Union's lone run of the day as Wellesley went on to win 10-1 in six innings.

Game Two
With strong pitching efforts from Dolinko and a seven-hit game from the Dutchwomen, Union earned its first shutout victory of the season this afternoon over Colby College. Union's bats came to life in the top of the third today, thanks to a bases clearing double from Kim Puzo to give the Dutchwomen the 3-0 lead on the Mules. First year Kendall Rogoff homered in the top of the fifth to give Union another insurance run. Puzo tacked on two more RBIs over the course of the game and led Union to the 6-0 victory. The Dutchwomen committed no errors defensively for the second time this season.

Inside the Box Score:
  • Rogoff's home run was the first of her career. She currently leads the team in batting average with .367. She totaled three hits and three walks on the day.
  • Today's win was the second shutout victory in Dolinko's career.
  • Buxton extends her on-base streak to 10 consecutive games. Among Dutchwomen with 10 or more at bats, she leads in on base percentage with .457.

Stat of the Day
5- Puzo totaled five RBIs in today's second game against Colby College, a career-high for the junior from East Islip, NY. With her five RBIs, Puzo scored the most runs in a single game since four Dutchwomen did so during the 2014 season.
