SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women's lacrosse team lost, 16-5, to No. 15 SUNY Cortland in its first game of the 2018 season on Tuesday afternoon at Frank Bailey Field.
The Red Dragons scored 10-straight goals to open the contest, and took an 11-1 lead into halftime.
Senior
Cailin Pandolfi got the Dutchwomen on the board with 7 minutes left in the first half. Pandolfi would then score Union's second goal to start off the second half.
Cortland and Union traded goals after that, as junior
Ramsey Walsh scored her first of the season to make the score 12-3.
After Union got some offense going, Cortland then scored four-consecutive goals to increase its lead to 16-3.
In the final six minutes of play, the Dutchwomen scored two more goals to finish out the contest. First years
Abby Stoller and
Isabel Bush both scored their first collegiate goals to bring the final score to 16-5.
Union will be back in action next Tuesday, March 13, hosting Williams College at Frank Bailey Field for a 7 p.m. (ET) start.
