AMSTERDAM, NY – The Union College baseball team strung together 19 hits under the lights at Shuttleworth Park en route to a 15-0 win over MCLA on Wednesday night.
The 19 hits and 15 runs are second most by the Dutchmen this season, who are now 14-4 on the season and undefeated in their last eight games.
Union didn't waste time getting down to business, putting up six runs in the first inning. The Dutchmen went on to add single runs in the third and eighth innings, two runs in the fourth and fifth innings and three in the seventh. MCLA only kept Union from scoring the second and sixth innings.
First year pitcher
Adam Hall recorded his first collegiate win, throwing the first five innings while only conceding two hits to the Trailblazers.
Steve Acquario,
Alex Shakibai,
Eric Beer and
Charlie Hoover all threw one each after the fifth, with none of them giving up a hit.
A total of 12 Dutchmen recorded hits in the game, led by
Colin Kelly and
Mike Papaleo who each had three.
Jake Vesling and
Andy Labeck each hit home runs as well.
Union returns to Shuttleworth Park on Saturday, April 14, to host Skidmore for a Liberty League doubleheader. First pitch against the Thoroughbreds is scheduled for noon (ET).
