Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

RPI defeats Union in close contest

TROY, NY – Despite scoring the first two goals, the Union College women's lacrosse team dropped a 12-9 decision to cross-town rivals RPI on Wednesday night.

Hannah Rosenberger, Julia Pfohl and Ramsey Walsh each scored twice in the game for Union, while Emma Lowre, Kellie Cronin and Corey Golden each added a single goal before the end of the game.

Lowrey and Pfohl scored in the first six minutes to give Union the early two-goal lead. Unfortunately, the Engineers battled back to take a 4-2 lead. The Dutchwomen would score twice before the end of the half, but so would RPI as the Engineers held onto a 6-4 lead at halftime.

RPI then started the second half with four-straight goals to jump out to a 10-4 lead. However, Union did not give up and ended up out-playing RPI for the remainder of the second half. The Dutchwomen scored five goals, to RPI's two, in the final 17 minutes to bring the final score to 12-9.

Union returns to Frank Bailey Field on Saturday, April 14, to host Rochester at 3 p.m. (ET).
