Dutchwomen take down St. Lawrence 14-9

SCHENECTADY, NY – Junior Kellie Cronin led the Union College women's lacrosse team to its first victory of the season, scoring five goals in a 14-9 win over St. Lawrence on Friday evening at Frank Bailey Field.

Union scored six of its goals from free position shots, as Cronin had three of her five from free positions, while first year Isabel Bush also scored two free position goals. Hannah Rosenberger, Cailin Pandolfi and Ramsey Walsh also each had two goals apiece, while Corey Golden rounded out the Dutchwomen's offense.

The Saints actually got on the board first, scoring in the third minute of the contest. The two teams would trade goals over the first 17 minutes of the first half, as Bush scored her first of the game to tie the game at 4-4. Cronin then scored twice within a 22-second span and Bush added her second of the game with 14 seconds remaining in the first half to give the Dutchwomen a 7-4 lead at halftime.

St. Lawrence and Union traded two sets of goals to start the second half, before the Saints scored twice midway through the half to cut their deficit to just one.

It would be in vein as the Dutchwomen scored three goals in a two-minute span to take a 12-8 lead with 13:50 left in the contest. After a nearly 10-minute scoreless drought, Pandolfi scored her 15th goal of the season to put Union up 13-8, and despite St. Lawrence scoring less than a minute later, Rosenberger added her 13th of the year to cap off the 14-9 win.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ellen Taney earned her first collegiate win, making 11 saves in the contest. St. Lawrence keeper Olga Lukas made eight saves in the losing effort.

Union returns to Frank Bailey Field tomorrow, April 21, to host Clarkson at 3 p.m. (ET).
