SCHENECTADY, NY -- The Union College softball team dropped a pair of games, both in five innings, to Ithaca College this afternoon, 13-2 and 10-1.
With today's match ups, Ithaca improves to 9-3 in conference play on the year while Union falls to 4-4 in Liberty League play.
GAME ONE
Ithaca's bats struck in all five innings during game one this afternoon, scoring at least one run in every inning.
After four, Union trailed 8-0, but managed to tack on a run thanks to a
Nikki Ditizio single that scored
Devon Hennel. However, Ithaca's offense kept at it and score five more runs in the top of the fifth to pull away with a 13-1 lead. Senior co-captain
Courtney Casey scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, but it wasn't enough as the Bombers ran away with the five inning victory.
Ithaca out hit Union just 11-8, however the Dutchwomen committed five defensive errors.Â
GAME TWO
The Bombers came out with 17 hits during game two, to cruise to a 10-1 victory.Â
Ithaca took an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first, however Union responded right away. First year
Stuart Buxton scored, thanks to an rbi double from Casey.Â
The Dutchwomen shut Ithaca out for the following two innings, before giving up seven runs over the remainder of the game.
Buxton went 3-3 during game two and ended the day with four hits. Casey had four hits, one run and one rbi on the day.
The Dutchwomen honored its three graduating seniors during today's matchup; Casey, Ditizio and Becca Kaufman.Â
