Union sends off seniors with big win over Bard

SCHENECTADY, NY – Playing in her final game at Frank Bailey Field, senior Cailin Pandolfi scored a career-best five goals to help lead the Union College women's lacrosse team to a 20-6 win against Bard on Friday evening.

Fellow senior, defender Celia Condrick also went out on a high note, recording her first collegiate points in the contest, scoring one goal and tallying one assist.

Sophomore defender Brianna Stout and first year midfielder Caroline Hirt scored their first goals of the season as well, marking the second of Stout's career and the first for Hirt.

Bard opened the scoring and actually held a 2-0 lead over the Dutchwomen in the first five minutes of the contest. However, Union responded seven consecutive goals over the next 11 minutes to take a huge lead.

The Raptors would score twice more before the end of the half, but Union would add four of its own as well to claim an 11-4 lead to start the second half.

The Dutchwomen quickly got back to work in the second half, scoring three goals in the first eight minutes to gain a 10-goal lead.

After Bard cut the lead back to single digits, Hannah Rosenberger scored her 18th goal of the season to put Union back up by 10 at 15-5, which also set a new team game-high this season for the Dutchwomen, surpassing the 14-goal mark Union put up against St. Lawrence on April 20.

Union would go on to score five more goals, to just one by Bard, for the 20-6 win in the team's regular-season home finale.

The Dutchwomen cap off the 2018 season tomorrow, April 28, with a road game against Vassar. The game in Poughkeepsie, NY is set to begin at 2 p.m. (ET).
