SCHENECTADY, NY - Despite leading after the first half, the Union College Dutchwomen remain winless in league play after a 12-8 loss to Skidmore College.
The afternoon matchup got off to a slow start, as the teams combined for just five goals after the first 30 minutes of play. The Dutchwomen led 3-2 at halftime, thanks to a goal from
Cailin Pandolfi and two goals from
Hannah Rosenberger. Rosenberger ended the game with a team and game high of four goals.
Both offenses seemed to explode in the second half, as the teams were tied up at 7 apiece with 7:58 left to go in regulation. Over the next five minutes, the Thoroughbreds scored back-to-back-to-back goals to take the largest lead of the day at 10-7. After a whistle,
Isabel Bush responded quickly and snuck a goal past Skidmore's keeper to pull the Dutchwomen withing two, trailing just 8-10. However, Skidmore scored two goals in the last 60 seconds of play and solidified the 12-8 victory.Â
The Dutchwomen return to action on April 11 to take on Capital District Rival, RPI, in Troy, at 7 p.m.
