SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Union College women's tennis team started its Liberty League schedule on Friday night, falling by a 9-0 score to Skidmore College at Wenger Courts.
Five players were dual winners for Skidmore, who ended the 2017-18 season ranked 16th in the ITA Div. III National Poll.
At first doubles, senior
Paige Webster and junior
Tal Pezzuco dropped an 8-4 decision to Skidmore's Risa Fukushige and Dea Koiava, while sophomores
Samantha Siegel and
Megan Brown fell by an 8-3 score at second doubles. Senior
Alex Greenberg and sophomore
Alissa Sangiuolo fell 8-0 at third doubles as well.
Brown won five games at second singles before dropping a 6-3, 6-2 defeat, while Pezzuco won four games in a 6-3, 6-1 defeat at the top flight. The Dutchwomen won only seven games in the final four singles flights.
Union will continue Liberty League play tomorrow afternoon, when the Dutchwomen host Vassar College at 3 p.m. at the Union Tennis Courts.
