SCHENECTADY, N.Y.— Union scored first in the game, and they protected the net well in the first half, but that wasn't enough, as the Union College men's soccer team fell, 3-2, to the #18 Ithaca College Bombers on a chilly Friday afternoon at College Park Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless 22 minutes, senior Salvador Lopez Jr. scored on Union's first shot of the game to get the Dutchmen on the board. Lopez Jr. scored off of a free-kick and scored in the lower right side of the net to make it a 1-0 game early.
- Ithaca responded in the 40th minute, with Zachary Litchman scoring off a pass from a free-kick. Litchman got the pass from Tom Dillmann and headed it in to tie the game going into halftime.
- The Bombers opened up the second half, with Theo Scott scoring directly in front, from across the box, about 15 yards out. Scott got the pass from Jon Kyriakidis to make it a 2-1 game for Ithaca.
- Ithaca struck again in the 66th minute, with Ali Kapasi scoring from within the box to make it a 3-1 game for the Bombers and secure them the win in the second half.
- Senior Jeremy Conn kept Union in the game in the 75th minute. Conn headed it in off a pass from junior Francesco D'lorio. This marked Conn's eighth goal of the season and D'Iorio's first point of the season.
- The Dutchmen were outshot by Ithaca, 13-6 on the day. Junior goalkeeper Trevor Krupp made five saves for Union in goal.
- Union falls to 9-4-0 in season, and 2-4 in Liberty League play. Ithaca improves to 11-2-1, and 4-1 in the conference.

The Union College men's soccer team continues their weekend homestead with another game tomorrow, October 19th, versus Hobart College for senior day. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
