ITHACA, N.Y. — After a slow first half and plenty of offensive opportunities for the Dutchwomen to score in the second, the Union College women's soccer team fell, 1-0, at Ithaca College on Friday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Ithaca scored quickly, with Delaney Rutan scoring with a pass from Devon Morris to head it in and give the Bombers the lead going into halftime.
- Union led in second-half shots, 9-4, creating a good deal of offensive opportunities to try and get on the board. Junior Bella Dworkin led the team in shots with four during the match.
- With just 25 minutes left in regulation, junior goaltender Alison Sorkenn made a tremendous one-handed diving save on Alex Epifani's shot attempt to score for Ithaca.
- Union was outshot by Ithaca, 15-12 on the day. Sorkenn made seven saves to keep the game close in score.
- Union falls to 7-5-0 on the season, and 2-3-0 in Liberty League conference play. Ithaca improves with the win, to 8-4-1, and 3-2-0 in the conference.

The Union College women's soccer team continues on their weekend road trip, taking on nationally-ranked #3 William Smith tomorrow, October 19th. Kickoff in Geneva, N.Y. is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
